I have a degree in fine art and secondary education from Colorado College. After college I married my sweetheart and followed him around the globe while he served the US Air Force. Raising our children took up most of my time but I was able to continue working part time as an artist, developing my artistic skills on the computer. We left the Air Force in 1999 and I have pursued my passions for art and dogs ever since.
I am the administrator of the non-profit dog rescue the Sunrise Foundation LTD. We find loving homes for 20-24 dogs a year. We receive our dogs primarily from the euthanasia lists of city shelters. These dogs have been labeled un-adoptable because of breed, health, or temperament issues. All of our dogs live in home environments until they are adopted. With a six pack or more of dogs to care for most of the time, working outside the home has not been an option. Combining my love for dogs and fine art created the perfect way to support my passions, my family and my dogs.
The name TriPodDog came from a very special three-legged dog that passed through my life. We adopted Jedi after he had suffered a collision with a car. He lost a leg and suffered brain damage. Jedi’s happy spirit was intoxicating. He suffered from severe epilepsy but he never let it get him down. For a dog with so many day to day problems, he had a ready smile and kiss. His life was very short but he made the most of it and taught me so much about living for the moment and being thankful for my blessings.
